PRESS RELEASE:
Shaw Sticks To Offer ‘Classic English’ Styles

Responding to drummers’ ever-changing tastes in stick styles and designs, the UK’s Shaw Sticks has announced a new range of Classic English Model wood tip sticks.

The new sticks have been designed following a complete re-tooling at Shaw, bringing them even closer to the original UK production sizes from the 1960s. Models come in E, C, C Plus, 5A, 5B and Super Soul styles and are made of 100 per cent US hickory.

Explaining the launch, Shaw says that the C and C Plus sticks are very widely used by traditionally-minded players looking for a vintage style and feel and that the company worked closely with Shaw users, including Ian Mosley from Marrillion and Don Powell from Slade, to get the designs exactly right.

The E sticks, meanwhile are very light and follow a surprise increase in demand which the company says has been growing rapidly over the past 12 months. Shaw adds that the company is not offering nylon tipped versions of the traditional styles at present, due to a continuing fall in demand from players for nylon tipped sticks..

Shaw Classic English sticks are priced at £9.98 per pair and there is a new Shaw website and Facebook page – not bad for a brand that has been in business in the UK since 1866!

NEW from Shaw! Snare wires and tuning bolts.

The snare wire is a vital part of the sound of the snare drum. We at Shaw have spent a great deal of time examining all available snare wires from early 1960′s production models onwards, researching all aspects from materials to spiral diameter and a pitch. We finally settled on our optimum design fror these snare wires.

Shaw Snare wires have bronze endplates for resonance and strength. Suitable for tape or string mounting (tapes included). Raised string guide to ensure that the plate sits flat. The end of the plate is also reinforced where the tape is tensioned for added strength but without compromising plate thickness. Uses 0.5mm wire with a spiral repeat of 1.35mm. Available in sizes 10″ – 14″ 20 strand, and 14″ 42 strand, display packaged

Shaw also now produce bright chromed tuning or tension bolts/rods. These are currently available in 35mm, 42mm, 52mm, 65mm, 75mm & 105mm. They come in packs of 5 with metal washers included. Metal, white nylon and black nylon washers also available.
